Not Again

Playing Catch-Up: Squirrel!!

I've let a lot of time slip by -- been busy plus haven't felt overly chatty, but with Comic Con breathing down my neck I figured better get caught up.

First: I've been seeing a grey squirrel in the yard of the house on our left (facing the house.) Just me. No one else. I even saw it on our front porch, but it turned and ran even before I could call anyone.

So I'm nuts, obviously.

Until, one day, this high piercing cry, repeated like a car alarm and coming from the back yard. We all piled outside onto the porch, and I spotted this on the fence across the next door neighbor's yard:

The silly squirrel was giving an alarm at the top of his voice that went on for almost 20 minutes.

Went to the Del Mar Fair for the first time in 13 years with Anal-Man. We had a good time, walked a ton, saw a few horse show classes, ate junk food -- all the neat stuff you do at fairs. We parked at a local horse park and rode a double decker bus to the fair grounds, and we rode on top with the top open. Loads of fun!

These guys were at the main gate:

Snakes... Why'd it Have to be Snakes... er... Snake?

Then Kaa escaped again, when Karoshi-man forgot to close his cage after feeding him -- again. So we ended up hauling most of the boxes out of the garage looking for this 9 foot boa constrictor -- a whole day wasted for all four of us, but now he's back in his cage, and it gave me an opportunity to take pictures of him with Karoshi-man.

On the other hand, the one good thing that came out of it was that I found our "epic" film: Film at Eleven, the closest thing we have to a home movie. We made it back in '83, before we met any of you people. Young, thinner, more hair -- yours truly in contacts and bad acting -- plus the totally awesome Mr. Roboto video by Johnson, Smith, Smith and Wooten. :)

It's pretty nostalgic for us, too, as our director J.J. Johnson III was murdered 7 years later, and since he was also an actor in our film it was lovely to see him again.
